PANCAKE BREAKFAST

On Feb. 13th we served 75 of our neighbors. Our two free winners were Bill Miller and Larry Dodge. We also had a donation by Howard Kenyon, "Thank You". Any donations are more then welcome, so again "Thank You".

Thanks to all that help make our pancake breakfast a success. See you all March 13th for our next breakfast.

LADIES CLUB

The Ladies club had their monthly meeting on Feb. 17th with 33 attending. We had a very successful rummage sale last month and want to thank everyone who helped: from preparing lunch for the workers, storing items, pricing items, setting up, breaking down, directing traffic, donating items and use of their driveways. Many hands were involved and we want to thank each and everyone who helped in anyway. Special thanks to the Men’s club helpers. We couldn’t have done it without you. Most of the money raised will go right back into the park with purchases made to improve our lives at Emerald Lakes. A little more than 10% will be donated to local charities.

We would like to remind everyone that there is a collection box under the table in the lounge room of our clubhouse for food donations. Your generous donations will be taken to our local food bank at Faith Neighborhood. They have a great need this year and appreciate anything you can donate. If you can bring just one can of food over, every time you come to a Bring ‘N Share or a meal, it would be helpful.

We will be going to Toojays in Ocoee for our Out Luncheon on March 3rd. There will be a traditional Corned Beef Dinner served on St. Patty’s Day, March 17th and a Bring ‘N Share with meatloaf on March 27th . Watch for the sign up sheets and notices. Our next meeting will be a t 9am on March 17th.

All women of Emerald Lakes are welcome to join us at our meetings and/or any of our activities. Remember to wear your name tags and let us know if you don’t have one.

Thanks to all who participate in our activities.

RUBY TED GEMS OF EMERALD LAKES

Our group had a wonderful lunch and shopping excursion last month at The Barn, in spite of the inclement weather. This month, on Friday, 3/19, we are doing something different and going to the Sugar Mill Restaurant for lunch and then taking the boat ride at Ponce DeLeon Springs. The boat ride is, of course, optional if you don’t want to go. We will be leaving the clubhouse at 10:00am with our reservations set for 11:30am for lunch and 1:00pm for the boat ride. Hope to see you then.

TO ALL BOOK BORROWERS

In order to have a library we all can be proud of; there are a few rules I wish you would follow.

Do not put returned book on shelves. I will put them back.

Place all returned books in white box.

Do not remove dust covers from books if they have them. If you do while reading them, put them back on.

Don’t push book to back of shelf. Keep them to the front. Looks better that way.

If you borrow a book, please read and return when finished, so others can enjoy.

Our library is on the THE HONOR SYSTEM….show yours.

Book lover, Larry Dodge

MEN’S CLUB

Our next meeting is March 5th at 9am.

Thursday March 18th at 11:30am is Men’s lunch out.

BOAT-A-RAMA: Our annual boat ride and pork dinner will be Friday, March 5th. Our fleet of boats will be leaving the Marina at 2:00pm (if the weather does not cooperate, look for notice of a make-up date and time). The pork roast dinner will be served at 4:00pm with side dishes, drink and dessert. The cost is $5.00 per person. Please sign up for the boat ride and dinner.

SPORTS BANQUET: Our annual Sports Banquet will be March 30th at 12:00 noon. Lunch will be served, followed by the sports award to our champions and various other characters. Please make sure you have paid your dues of $3.00 to your team captain. Everyone is welcome. There will be a charge of $3.00 at the door for those who haven’t paid.

Our Valentine’s Party was a success with the substitute DJ doing a nice job.

Our Fish Fry Dinner was attended by over 100 folks. Our cooks (Cal, Jim, Ken and Gene) did a great job. A thanks to Mark, Warren and Dolly for collecting and cleaning all the fish (and of course, all the fisherman that contributed fish). As usual, we had many people who contributed to the success of our dinner. A special thanks and appreciation to the women who furnished all the delicious desserts.

This Fish Fry was dedicated to our former member, fish fry chef, fisherman, card player and all around good guy, Vic Tushowski.

Kudos to Keith and his gang for acquiring and putting up the Martin Bird House by the Marina.

Also, we would like to thank Paul Bergeron and Larry Lubick for the replacement of our flag at the Club House.
